To set an example

13:15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.

To save the world. Not to judge the world.

12:47 "As for the person who hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save it.

To lay down his life for the sheep

10:11 "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

To be present at judgment

9:39 Jesus said, "For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind."

To testify that what the world does is evil

7:7 The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify that what it does is evil.

To give his flesh for the life of the world

6:51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world."

To do the will of the Father. Not to do his own will.

6:38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.
